Tabitha Blagdon Headshot

Meet Tabitha.

Many people just call me Tabz.

As an Engineering Director at Maven Clinic, an engineering leadership coach and mentor, a dedicated mother, and an aspiring homesteader, my journey spans over 17 years of diverse experience. My career path includes serving as the former Head of Engineering at Digit/Oportun and managing two investment teams at BlackRock. I’ve transitioned from working at Fortune 500 companies on Wall Street during the financial crisis to leading product engineering teams at multiple Silicon Valley VC-backed startups in FinTech and HealthTech.

I take pride in being a mother to a wonderful 6-year-old boy, and every moment of motherhood is a source of joy. My career effectively merges technical acumen with strategic business insights, driving impactful product initiatives while fostering an “amp it up” culture. My bias towards action, competitive drive for excellence, and unique career experiences have enabled me to make substantial contributions to the organizations I work with, allowing me to rise swiftly as a senior leader across different industries and company sizes.

My journey is a testament to resilience, perseverance, and embracing change. Navigating through economic crises, overcoming life dissatisfaction, and making successful career pivots have all shaped me into the leader and mother I am today. I firmly believe in the principles “Life is short. Don’t settle.” and “You can have your cake and eat it too.”

I demonstrate that it is possible to:

  • Balance being an excellent parent while achieving career goals in male-dominated industries, breaking through glass ceilings along the way.

  • Successfully pivot your life and career multiple times, finding success at each turn.

  • Build high-performing engineering teams that achieve remarkable success without relying on expensive “rockstar” talent, akin to the Moneyball approach.

I have accomplished this, proving that with determination, you can have it all. The answer should never be "No," but rather "Not Yet."

Today, I am passionate about paying it forward by sharing my wisdom and experiences to coach engineering leaders in reaching their highest potential. As a mother who has balanced career ambitions with parenthood, I inspire professionals to dream big, believe in their abilities, and embrace discomfort to grow. I have successfully guided numerous engineering leaders from Sr. Staff Engineers to Sr. Engineering Managers, pushing each mentee out of their comfort zone to unlock their highest potential.
